What is a Global Call to Action Project?
Tens of thousands of young people around the world have answered Peacejam’s Global Call to Action by working on a GCA project. These projects are thought up, created and run by young people in schools, community centers, clubs, churches and other local groups.
What have been some GCA projects?
-
Bringing clean water to a village in India
-
Educating youth in South Africa about HIV/AIDS
-
Improving housing for families in Argentina.
-
Creating a “green” school in Denver, Colorado.
The goal of the Global Call to Action is to create a billion acts of peace. There are plenty of problems that need to be addressed and a million ways to act. What will your GCA project be? It’s up to you. But whatever you do, your project must:
-
Address a problem in one of the 10 Global Call to Action areas
-
Reflect the opinions, values, voices, resources, and assets of the people in the community being served
-
Meet Authentic Community Needs* [NOTE: what is this? We should spell it out]
-
Show thoughtful reflection throughout the project process
-
Have one or more organizational partners to help ensure the project will succeed.
-
Have definite goals, with summations at each step including a final report when the project is concluded
GCA members in dozens of countries are working together to make this world a better place. Ready to get started on your own project? Find out how.
